Cameroon owes this rank, we learned, to two main criteria taken into account for this ranking. These are the countless business opportunities available in the country (2nd in the ranking for this criterion), as well as the potential of its distribution network (also 2nd for this aspect).

On the macro-economic criterion, Cameroon is ranked 6th, despite a strong resilience to the drop in world prices for oil and the war against Boko Haram. Indeed, as the MD of IMF stressed during her recent visit in Cameroon, for the past 2 years, this country has been posting a growth rate of 5%, while the average in the Cemac area in which it belongs is inferior to 3%.

Through Cameroon's ranking, Nielsen's Africa Prospects Indicators seems to pay tribute to the law to incite private investment in Cameroon, effective since April 2013, even though the majority of projects benefitting from advantages (tax exemptions of 5 to 10 years) provided by this law have not yet materialised.
