Despite civil unrest in some parts of the country, Cameroon remains a leading economy in the West and Central Africa regions as it continues to implement reforms creating a friendlier business environment and attracting more investments into this dynamic market. There was the need for us to strategically plan how we move forward as a Chamber and continue to represent the needs of our members.

We built our strategy around 3 pillars:

  1.        Advocacy for a Better Business Environment
  2.  Capacity Building and Networking, Focusing on Digital/Technological Transformation, and IP rights.
  3.  Supporting bilateral Trade and Investment Opportunities between USA and Cameroon

Some of our achievements include:

  • Membership growth by 48% (from 54 members to 80 members);
  • New U.S. Investments announced in areas including Food, Oil and Gas
  • Inbound and outbound trade missions with new business ventures in sectors including agribusiness, inclusive finance, strategic advisory services, real estate; a total of 45 delegates from Cameroon.
  • Strong partnerships with U.S. Organizations that led to new ventures and new memberships.
  • High level discussions and close collaboration with the government in formulating sound improvements that were adopted at 90% in the finance law 2022/2023, to the mutual satisfaction of tax authorities and the business community.
  • Networking events to showcase services and products by AmCham members as well as promoting “Buy AmCham” culture.
  • Advocacy and capacity building in topics including Protection of Intellectual Property, Impact of digitalization and business growth; We stimulated the country’s young entrepreneurs’ interest in digitalization as the next big thing and had first-hand experience in seeing admirable world-class digital projects rising from amongst AmCham members to earning appreciation by all-Africa institutions and multilateral bodies.

To our most loyal and faithful members, AmCham Cameroon would be nothing without you. I thank each and every one of you for the support and unflinching loyalty you have shown to this organization over the past years.

To board members, please know your hard work, commitment and dedication is truly and greatly valued. Because of your broad vision and eclectic mix of ideas, AmCham Cameroon has grown in membership, visibility, and stature.

To the Executive team who works tirelessly to operate this organization and maintaining contact and communication with our members so that we are all closely connected and informed, I offer you my most heartfelt gratitude and appreciation.

All this would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the U.S. Embassy.

Thank you.

Laure E. Djoukam
