A team of heads from the ADB, the World Bank, the BDEAC and the FDA have just concluded a site inspection visit to the Lom Pangar Dam in Cameroon’s East region. Lenders were pleased with the progress of the construction project which is scheduled to be launched in July 2015.

Reiterating the World Bank’s availability to continue disbursements to ensure the sound continuation of the energy project, World Bank Lom Pangar project leader, Dan Murphy, noted that “there have been substantial improvements, not only in terms of the physical aspects of the project, but also with regards to the elements behind what we are able to see.” For him, “overall, things are advancing satisfactorily.”

According to Electricity Development Corporation (EDC), the project’s institutional head, work on the dam is currently 50% complete. The Lom Pangar Dam will have a water retention capacity of 6 billion m3 and will also be equipped with a 30MW capacity factory.
