The National Hydrocarbons Company of Cameroun (SNH), confirms that the research undertaken in the region has been « fruitful ». The quantity of crude available has not yet been estimated but the technicians believe it to be substantial: « Trials reveal the existence of a series of consolidated sands impregnated with hydrocarbons 18 metres high », company sources explained.

This discovery by the Chinese firm Yan Chang Logone Development Holding Company Limited, brings new hope to SNH whose crude oil production dropped to 55000 b/j this year, while Sonara seeks to double its production, i.e. from two to four million barrels by 2014.

The deposit was discovered in an area bordering Nigeria and Chad where the 1500 kilometre pipeline is already under construction for the exploitation of the Komé deposit (Chad).
